From Zero to One: The Power of Transition Work and How I Help Women Get Career Clarity and Visibility

“You took us from zero to one”. 

This was a verbal testimonial from one of my clients when the business she co-founded was just under a year old, The company had dusted off a successful official opening and established a clear culture-brand lens after our collaboration.

What struck me about her statement is when I look back on my last seven years of independent consulting, most of my projects have been about jumpstarting something new: 

• A new type of event, 

• A new internal communications programme, 

• A new business, 

• A new series of articles, 

• A new location. 

The Power of the In-Between

That kind of work fits me perfectly because it’s where my creativity and artistry can flourish to shape something anew. It’s what I relished about being a choreographer. It’s what I honed as  I made the transition from the arts to marketing communications. It’s where I thrived when I moved from a marketing communications agency to working “on the client side”. 

That transitional space, when one thing must change to another or nothing must become something, is often amorphous. But it also holds creative charge.  It requires the kind of focused energy not at all foreign to introvert, creative minds like mine. That’s where we have the most fun, even if it’s hard.

Supporting Women in Their Own Shift

So it should be no surprise that not only have I helped organisations go from “zero to one”, but also individuals, especially women.

Over the years, I’ve done occasional one-on-one personal brand coaching, but when her words crossed my mind again, I decided once and for all to create something more intentional. 

It’s a solution for Caribbean women who are rethinking success, beyond the corporate climb; who are ready for an adventure to new heights but find themselves in that uncertain space between career fog and focus. Women who feel suppressed by their job title and barely remember themselves. 

This is personal and fulfilling work for me. I’ve been there and in some ways that is still my journey. 

Rooted and Ready: A Clarity and Visibility Programme

I’ve created Rooted and Ready. It’s currently a one-on-one experience for women who want to be clear and visible as their full selves (no hiding behind job titles, past or present), while building their version of financial freedom and meaningful work.

In essence, it helps women get career clarity and visibility.

What does that entail? 

• Identifying your main barriers to clarity and visibility

• Formulating a plan to get clear and visible on your terms 

• Executing the plan step-by-step over three months with clear messaging pillars, chosen platforms (online or offline) and a content plan

• Clear coping mechanisms for when the going gets tough
